Juju

Juju will brighten any room she’s in, not just because of her bold and happy colors… but because of her magical and playful dance. Like scouting for shapes in the clouds, you will see something new and different each time you look at her… but her good juju remains constant!

As a former dancer, I’d been wanting to create a piece that was a visual representation of a dance, both choreographed and improvised. The recurring patterns, such as the textured grids and repeated circular motifs (particularly the "eye-like" forms in the upper right and lower left), act as visual "beats" that anchor the more chaotic elements.

The juxtaposition of structured, rectangular blocks of red and purple against free-flowing teal and yellow splashes creates a "staccato" versus "legato" effect, mirroring the shifts in tempo found in dance
