Built from collage between layers of resin, found materials, vintage marquee letters and Dremel carvings on an upcycled piece of home decor screen, Flux is Flow explores the tension between our desire for certainty and the inevitability of change. Coexisting with the weathered back and foreground are small bursts of color, like moments of joy, possibility and hope! Ultimately, this piece speaks to trusting ourselves when the ground keeps shifting.
Also embedded in this piece is a haiku:
In a state of flux,
is our only real constant.
Learn to rest in that.
The mountainous texture and water like movement was inspired by a beautiful book of J.R.R. Tolkien’s illustrations.
